I was just curious to find out what people do with books they don't like.
I have a pile of books I've bought and read, and despite really, really, REALLY wanting to like them, I just can't. I've paid for them, after all, and I can't get the money back. I refuse to add these books to my bookshelf because I don't want the good books to be mixed with the terrible ones (as if they'll be tainted, or something! Ba ha ha ha).
What do you do with the books you don't want? I donate them to charity, and feel awful because I'm giving away bad books (like I'm inflicting punishment on others) but I'm not sure what to do. Should I put them in the recycle bin? Should these books be mashed into a pulp and turned into something more useful? Should I light a bonfire to ward off bad characters and terrible plot lines?
Your thoughts?
:-) Mon

Hi Mon,
Nice to see you back. It sounds like you had a wonderful time in the States.
My philosophy is that one woman's rubbishy book is another's favourite. Example: I can't read Nora Roberts. I don't get why she's so popular.
There's a talking point!

Mon, I do the same (charity) or sometimes if it is the style/genre of writing rather than bad writing I will pass it on to a friend who might like it.
Shayne, lol, and I inflicted her books on you! Sorry.
Shayne,
It's funny, I used to love Nora. Not so keen on her recent stuff, however her JD Robb work is good.
I'm talking worse books than that, though. I'm talking books that shouldn't have been published as the plot is weak, the characters aren't interesting etc. I've found a few of those lately, and it's left me scratching my head.
I will continue to donate, though, just in case someone loves what I don't!

Hey AJ,
Yeah, some are to do with the genre, but I tend to read most genres/styles, except really gory stuff (I have a weak stomach).
Lol about the Nora books! Shayne will forgive you, I'm sure ;-)
Hi Mon - I donate them to the library! That way nobody else will pay for the crap but as Shayne says, someone might actually like it!
Rach, I didn't even think about the library! Our local library is pretty small, so I'm sure they'd appreciate any donations. Thanks for the tip!
