On my iPod: Get Outta My Way by Kylie Minogue
Just a quick post about the RWA conference this year. It was pretty hectic, and I'm rather glad to be home and back in the swing of my normal day-to-day duties (I can't believe I said that!).
Highlights of the conference included the GMC talk with Deb Dixon, as well as the brilliant Deep POV session with Denise Rossetti (if you get the chance to do a course with her, it's well worth it). Melanie Milburne was also a fab presenter, and Erica Hayes managed to make me understand what what a synopsis really requires (and I hate synopses with a passion, so it helped a lot).
Also proud of the Bootcampers who worked hard on the Silver Lunch for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation. We managed to make just over $5,000 (Military Marilyns rock!), and Harlequin threw in $5,000 on top. How awesome!
All in all it was a busy and fun weekend. I'm absolutely buggered today, just as I'm sure everyone else who attended is. Wanted to say a special thanks to Paula Roe again for the fantastic prize of craft books I won during the raffle because I need all the help I can get! Lol.
Thanks to everyone who was involved in organising the conference. You did a fantastic job, and should be very proud of yourselves.

Was fabulous to finally meet you Mon and I have to say although I loved it, I do understand your 'glad-to-be-back-to-mundane' sentiment. It's like a Charlie and Lola book I read to the boys where Lola wants snow EVERYDAY and Charlie said it wouldn't be special if they had it ALL the time!
I LOVE Charlie and Lola (they're adorable). I have to agree with the sentiment. It wouldn't be special if we did it all of the time.
There was something calming and soothing about getting back into my routine yesterday. I really treasured being able to snuggle up to my kids last night. Oh, and hubby too :-)
Hope your trip home was a good one, and I look forward to catching up again some day. It's a pity you're so far away, but I'll be keeping an eye out for news from you (like how you've signed a big fat contract with you-know-who!).
Hugs,
Mon
Hi Mon,
I came home on Sunday night and hit the ground running on Monday morning with three solid days of teaching (talk talk talk) work. And every night was busy ferrying youngest daughter to and from extracurricular stuff. At the end of last night, I lost my voice!
This makes John happy as all I can do is whisper, so he pretends he can't hear me.
The conference was full-on. Moreso for you because of all the hard work you put in for RWA.
Glad to hear your life's back to normal.
Speak soon (when I can).
Shayne XXXXXXXX
PS: The house is a mess. And it was only a long weekend away!
Lol Shayne. I can understand how you could have lost your voice. Hope you get it back soon so you can yell at him and make up for lost time! :-)
I've been dealing with a sick child so not much going on at the moment. Hope we get to catch up for a gasbagging session soon! In the meantime, will send you some pics when I can get my act together.
Hugs,
Mon
Hey Mon, it's always great catching up with you at conference. You did an excellent job organising the e-list dinner & being so instrumental as part of the Silver Lunch.
Hey EK, it was lovely to catch up with you too! Thanks for the thanks :-) and congrats again to you for your LW Award nomination - it's because of volunteers like you that organisations like the RWA run so smoothly. Yay for volunteers!
Mon, it was so lovely to meet you at the conference! Can't believe it was almost two weeks ago already :-)
Hey Christina,
It was great to meet you too! Yeah, I can't believe how fast time has flown. I've only managed a little bit of writing since conference due to sickness in our house.
Hope you've managed to get a lot of writing done, and congrats on the delivery of your books!
Take care of yourself,
:-)Mon
