The New Year is here, and I'm back in the writing swing.
I've spent the last few months doing loads of critiquing for a few different people, and very little fresh writing of my own. Lots of ideas and a short synopsis for new work created, but nothing solid. Now it's time for me to get stuck into my own work and make something of it in 2010.
I've decided to resurrect a manuscript I started over a year ago (I call it my 'muso ms'), which was originally aimed at the Harlequin Romance/Sweet line, and I'm turning it into a Single Title ms with lashing of extra sexiness (a bit of a change from its original form!). It just doesn't suit the line I was aiming for, and it just doesn't fit neatly into the category niche, but I love it too much to let it go, and it's haunting me at night. So it'll be reworked and added to, and hopefully it will be complete for submission by the end of the year.
I guess my goal this year is to finish this ms and get it out there. If I finish early enough, I'll try the competition route, and then I'll start working on a Modern Heat ms. But I'm being realistic this year, so I'm not putting pressure on myself to do anything but one ms. I still have a lot going on in my personal life with limited time to spare, and I have spread myself a wee bit too thin for too long (probably the reason I've been sick a lot lately).
So my goal in 2010 is to finish one ms. That's it! Can't be too hard, right? :-)

Good luck with your goals in 2010 Mon. I think they're VERY sensible. I'm guilty of trying to do too much and then feeling disappointed in myself!
:)
Rach!
Hey Rach, go easy on yourself this year, okay? I had so many unrealistic expectations last year, and I felt quite down when I didn't fulfil them. Slow and steady wins the race, as they say!
Good on you Mon. I didn't realise you were so sick last year.
You've got tiny children so don't be too hard on yourself.
But I know you can do it, and the Bootcats will be there with you every step of the way.
Shayne
Great to have you back and always happy to see another writer getting back into the swing of things.
Hope 2010 brings you success with your manuscript. You've got lots of writer buddies to hold your hand along the way :-)
(((HUGS))) 2010 is going to be an AWESOME year for us m'dear.
so love having you back :)
Yay Mon you're back. Hope you have a fab 2010 and be well.
Yep, Shayne, I attracted cold and flu viruses as frequently as a hot guys attracts chicky babes! My back and neck issues were also giving me grief last year. Glad the BootCats were there to keep me going.
Sussan, I hope you find more time to write this year. Look forward to seeing some of your work (hint, hint! *wink*).
AJ, I’m glad to be back. I expect to bore you senseless with the rubbish I write! Can’t wait to catch up with you in August, chook.
EK, hope it’s a bumper year for you. I liked your grants article in HT, btw. Have you started to apply for Sydney yet? Would be great to see you again.
I meant guy, not guys. Gawd, I need to reread before I publish comments.
You can certainly reach your goal of finishing this story by the end of the year. Just work on it when you can. And I want to see it when you've finished! ;-)
Yep, you'll get a squizz, KG! Just don't laugh at me, okay? :-)
Wishing you all the best with finishing your ms, Mon. And a 2010 of robust good health!
Thanks, Cathryn! Same to you :-)
